I didn't see anything about it on the internet. I got my PS4 yesterday. Very happy with it. I've had a lot of fun playing Killzone: Shadow Fall, Need for Speed, Contrast, and Resogun. I'm very pleased with this launch, and I'm glad I decided to get the system early.
However, whenever I'd try to play a DVD or Blu-ray, I got Unable to play disc. Error code CE-35486-6. When I set up my PS4 initially, I'd forgotten my wi-fi password, so rather than connect to the internet, I downloaded the 1.50 patch to a USB stick and followed the instructions here.
Come to find out, once I had my internet set up, I had to redo the patch installation using the internet in order to be able to play videos on disc. I don't know what was wrong with the downloaded patch, but updating over the internet fixed my issue. Here are the steps I took:

Unplug your cell from USB port. It worked just fine after that.

I did not find any good solution for the error. I browsed many sites. And still I am in trouble with my PS4. I think I should throw it away!

My PS4's been working flawlessly since I got it on the 30th of November.
However, I'm having the same problem since this evening, played a DVD first thing this morning and it worked fine. Tonight, I've been playing games for the last 2 hours then tried to watch a DVD afterwards and it brought up the same error code.
I re-installed the 1.52 update using safe mode but to no avail.. must be a software problem or something because it still reads game discs so the drive is working properly. I'm just a bit confused :/ all I can think of as an option is leaving it off overnight and trying a DVD again in the morning.
Not really sure what else I could try but I don't want to go messing with settings too much. I don't really want to get it replaced either though because it will be such a hassle just before christmas and I'm pretty sure that the shop I bought it from won't have any in stock. I'm not even sure if it will fix the problem anyway if it's software related because it could do it again on a new console after a while.
It's not that big of a problem because game discs work fine, but it's irritating knowing something doesn't quite work with my new system.
