Release

The recovered page dates the finished project to April 9, 2008 and records the decision to release the patch as-is on April 11. ROMhacking.net dates its public record to April 13. The team believed the game to be fully playable and free of known bugs, but noted that they had not personally completed it; that qualification should remain visible.

History

The project began in June 2003. Filler translated the script and modified the title graphic, font, and other game elements. David Shadoff expanded the ROM, built a custom inserter, and added assembly-language support for single-line spacing and word wrapping. After password-screen and playtesting work in 2004, David returned with a substantially redone hack in 2007, enabling the eventual public release.

Related historical material

The recovered site includes a translated manual, detailed translation notes, and a hints-and-cheats document. These are useful companion works rather than incidental page attachments and should be offered alongside the patch with their original filenames and context.

Preservation notes

Both maison-manual.pdf and maison-manual-all.pdf survive locally and are byte-identical (SHA-256 10930DADE537620EFBD01437C279DB73555BE5BA6C7A3A5422D38EB687DB4D2C), so the new site only needs to expose one copy while retaining both historical filenames in the inventory. mi_trans_notes.txt and mi_hints_and_cheats.txt are distinct companion documents. Two decorative images referenced by the page are missing.
